How I Spice Up My Natural Hair Part 1 with Her Textured Hair

Is it just me or are natural hair extensions becoming more and more popular lately? I’ve definitely seen more women wearing them and more influencers using them. Sometimes we want a different look, added length, or more volume. No matter what you’re looking for, natural hair clip ins are a great option to spice up your look when you’re tired of the usual twists, braid outs, puffs, etc.

I was recently gifted some natural hair clip ins from Her Textured Hair (HTH), and y’all, I am in love! So, I had to share them with you guys. See the video below on how I installed natural hair clip ins for the first time! Keep reading for a brief intro to this black owned, woman owned business and for my full review of the hair.

A little bit about the company. When doing my normal browsing on Instagram, I stumbled upon HTH and immediately fell in love with their aesthetic and concept. HTH is all about catering to real women and people of color with curly, kinky hair. They pride themselves on offering clip ins that truly match our texture. When I think of hair that truly matches mine, it looks realistic and for me that means it has some frizz, very tight coils, and it’s not perfectly defined. When looking at their Instagram account, I could tell this is some bomb hair that might actually look real!

Now that I have the hair, I can truly say it looks kinky like mine. They number their curly clip ins from 1 mm (tightest curl option) to 4 mm (loosest curl option). They also offer 2 set types: full set (which is 160 grams or 1.5 bundles) and the mega set (which is 220 grams or about 2 bundles). As mentioned in the video, I am wearing the 1 mm coily clip ins in 20 inches in the Mega set. These currently sell for $240 and includes 10 clips total. The 1 mm texture is a great blend for those with 4b/4c curls like me.

Before I continue, please keep in mind that this is my first set of curly clip ins, so I cannot compare them to other curly clip ins. I have though worn straight clip ins back when I was still relaxed. Peep the throwback photo in my YouTube video above!

Rating: 4 out of 5.

My thoughts on the hair! It blends nicely and has some frizz, which I love. The curls are looser towards the weft but then get tighter as you go down the length of the hair. The ends are the curlest part. I kind of wish the curls were the same throughout, meaning the curls at the weft were just as tight as the curls at the ends. For this reason only, I give the hair 4/5 stars. But nonetheless, you can style your hair to where it blends nicely even at the wefts.

The hair comes in a natural black/1b color, which is a tad darker than my natural dark brown hair color. I believe HTH is considering offering more colors in the future, so we will see. I would love to have that as an option if so! Another thing I love about the company is you can reach out to them. They have great customer service. If you have a special request, like a different color or the hair made into a wig, they may be able to do it for you!

Also, make sure you are gentle with the hair or it will shed and you’ll lose more hair than necessary. I styled the hair using a wide tooth comb, Tangle Teezer brush, and Denmna brush, but I probably won’t do that again. I think I’ll stick to a wide tooth comb and finger detangling the clip ins so I won’t lose more hair than necessary.

Overall, I definitely plan to enjoy and get lots of uses of this hair! Clip ins are so versatile and can be used to achieve so many different hairstyles that I otherwise couldn’t achieve with my current length. I think they are a great option if you want to change up your look or have a special event to attend. I would definitely recommend this hair and HTH. Expect to see more styles using this hair in the future! Especially when the world returns back to normal and I have somewhere to go lol.

Xoxo,

Margaret Nicole
