Hey loves!
As you probably have noticed from my previous blog post and Instagram, I was recently gifted some clip in hair extensions from Her Textured Hair. I’ve been loving my new look! When doing anything ‘extra’ to your hair (color, weave, etc.), it’s important to not neglect and forget about the integrity of your real hair, hence today’s post. You do not want to sleep in your clip in hair extensions. Yes, it may be annoying or a slight inconvenience to take them out every night and clip them back in every morning, but trust me, it’s so worth it when considering the health of your actual hair. Keep reading below for the do’s and don’ts of clip in nighttime care.

Here’s some reasons why not to sleep in your clip ins.
Caught in the sheets. The clips can become undone while you’re asleep and tangle up in your sheets, blankets, or pillows. Then, get pulled or yanked out of your hair, which can result in damage to that area of your hair.
Nighttime movement. We often toss and turn while sleeping, which can cause unnecessary strain on your hair as well as the clip ins. The clips can tug on your real strands while you’re sleeping, which can cause unnecessary breakage, damage, and hair loss of your real strands.
Design. Clip ins are not designed for permanent every night wear. They’re for short term use. They can be easily clipped in and out for a reason. So, I suggest taking advantage of that.
Damage. Not only can you damage your actual hair, but you can damage the clip ins themselves. The clip in weft can become tangled and the clips can detach from the wefts.
Unnecessary tangles. The clip in weft can tangle up while you sleep leaving you to detangle your hair in the morning. Who wants that extra work?
What you should do with your clip ins at night.
Unclip them from your hair and store them in a satin or silk bag or bonnet. Just like your hair, you want them to stay moisturized, so it’s important to store them properly. If you shop with Her Textured Hair, the hair comes in a really pretty bag perfect for overnight storage.
You should also restyle any leave-out so that it blends well come morning!
